We are currently in the process of applying for grants with King County and will also be starting fundraising in 2005.

Current Grant Status:

Centennial Clean Water Grant: Friends of Cottage Lake worked with King County Water and Land Resources on the County's application for a Centennial Grant. This funds from this grant are targeted towards reducing the phosphorus concentration in the lake. A large portion of the money will go to water quality monitoring (started in October 2005). Other activities include community education and shoreline restoration.

Other Fundraising:

We are currently working on our fundraising efforts for 2006. Friends of Cottage Lake has committed to raising $1500 towards the matching funds requirement of the Centennial Grant each year. In addition, we can count volunteer hours as part of the match so we will be organizing cleanup, plantings and other events.

Our next fundraising event is a Native Plant Sale (see the page for more details).

See the membership page for information on how to join FOCL (dues are $20/year) or make a donation. FOCL is a registered 501(c)(3) charity so dues and donations are tax deductible.

Volunteers
:

Cottage Lake can use all the friends it can get. We invite you to learn all you can about the issues facing our lake, talk to your neighbors, and join us for future FOCL meetings and events. Volunteers will also be needed for upcoming lake improvement projects—no experience necessary!
