Friends of Cottage Lake was previously using an MSN Group site to post information, meetings annoucements, etc. The old site worked, but was confusing to join and occasionally email was not sent out. Very few members had joined.
I've been experimenting with this new community web site, and hope it will be easier to use and allow us to move away from a fixed email list for sending announcements, etc.
Members can control whether or not they receive email updates and the site has better control over private and public content. For example, everyone should be able to read this blog (members and non-members), but only members can read or post to the forums (to avoid junk postings). Please let me know if you have feedback on the site.
